ENJEU: La réduction des émissions de GES dans le transport est cruciale pour le changement climatique et la qualité de l’air. La navigation est un secteur-clé pour la région ENO, représentant 84% du transport de fret en Europe. Cependant, près de 100% des navires fonctionnent au gasoil (CCNR, 2017) qui, comme le diesel, est émetteur de CO2, NOx, particules fines (PF) et SO2. Le projet PROMINENT a montré que le transport maritime et fluvial peut être encore plus vertueux. Des alternatives majeures sont nécessaires pour réduire les émissions de GES. La propulsion H2 est proche d’une maturité industrielle et est la seule option pouvant decarboner totalement le transport par voie d'eau : haut rendement et densité énergétique, absence d’émissions locales. Son adoption nécessite une infrastructure spécifique, proche des utilisateurs finaux. Des trajets prévisibles et la proximité avec d’autres industries rendent le transport maritime et fluvial particulièrement adapté à l'H2. CHANGEMENT: H2SHIPS démontrera la valeur ajoutée de l’H2 et proposera un schéma directeur pour une large adoption en ENO. Il permettra d’éviter des émissions de GES: 46 tCO2, 561 kgNOx, 11 kgPM, 29 kgSO2. Le partenariat conduira à l’émergence d’une chaîne de valeur dédiée. RESULTATS: 2 démonstrateurs dans des contextes complémentaires pour une large réplicabilité. Pilote 1 (NL) Nouveau bateau portuaire hydrogène ; Pilote 2 (BE) Système d’avitaillement H2 offshore pour transport maritime. Par ailleurs, un plan d'action pour la mise en œuvre d'un projet pilote H2SHIPS sur la Seine à Paris en 2022 sera élaboré. EFFETS LONG TERME: Après le projet, H2SHIPS aura créé 3 emplois directs par an et les conditions pour une adoption à grande échelle, avec 2% du marché du renouvellement (neuf et rénové) et un impact positif transsectoriel. 10 ans après la fin du projet, l’impact direct sur la réduction des émissions de GES sera de 13626 tCO2, 151 tNOx, 3.1 tPM, 7.7 tSO2 par an.

ISSUE: Reducing GHG emissions in the transport sector is crucial for climate change and air quality. Water transport plays a key role for persons and goods in NWE, which concentrates 84% of European inland freight. However, almost 100 % of inland vessels are fuelled by gasoil (CCNR, 2017) which, similar to diesel, emits CO2, nitrogen oxides (NOx), particulate matter (PM) and sulphur dioxide (SO2). The (H2020) PROMINENT project found that the inland waterway and maritme transport sectors have a large potential to become more environmentally friendly. Breakthrough alternatives are needed. Hydrogen (H2) propulsion approaches full market maturity and is the only option that allows total decarbonisation of waterborne transport: high efficiency, energy density and no local GHG emissions. Its uptake requires dedicated infrastructure, close to end users. With predictable routes and proximity with other industries, water transport proves particularly adapted to H2. CHANGE: H2SHIPS will demonstrate the added-value of H2 for water transport and develop a blueprint for its adoption across NWE. GHG emissions will be directly avoided: 46 tCO2, 561 kgNOx, 11 kgPM, 29 kgSO2. The partnership will lay the grounds for the emergence of a dedicated H2 value chain. OUTPUTS will include 2 demonstrations in complementary contexts to ensure replicability. Pilot 1 (NL) New built hydrogen powered port vessel in Amsterdam ; Pilot 2 (BE) H2 distribution in open sea for maritime transport. Furthermore, an action plan for the implementation of a H2SHIPS pilot on the Seine in Paris in 2022 will be worked out. LONG TERM EFFECTS: After project end, H2SHIPS will lead to 3 direct job creations per year and will have created the necessary conditions for its uptake by 2% of the fleet renewal (retrofit/new) with positive impact on cross-sector industry uptake. 10 years after project end, the direct GHG impact will be 13626 tCO2, 151 tNOx, 3.1 tPM, 7.7 tSO2 avoided per year.

HERAUSFORDERUNG: Die Verringerung der Emissionen im Verkehrssektor ist von entscheidender Bedeutung für Klimawandel und Luftqualität. Mit einem Anteil von 84% am EU Güterverkehr spielt die Schifffahrt eine Schlüsselrolle für Personen und Güter in NWE. Fast 100% der Binnenschiffe werden mit Gasöl (ZKR, 2017) betrieben, das ähnlich wie Diesel Stickoxide (NOx), Partikel (PM) und Schwefeldioxid (SO2) ausstößt. Das Projekt PROMINENT stellte fest, dass die Binnenschifffahrt und der Seeverkehr noch umweltfreundlicher werden könnten. Um Treibhausgase weiter zu reduzieren, sind Alternativen erforderlich. Wasserstoff (H2)-Antrieb nähert sich der vollen Marktreife und ist die einzige Option, die eine vollständige Dekarbonisierung des Wassertransports ermöglicht. Die Verbreitung dieser Technologie erfordert eine spezifische Infrastruktur in der Nähe der Endverbraucher: mit vorhersehbaren Routen und Marktnähe zu anderen Industrien erweist sich die Schifffahrt als besonders geeignet für H2. ERWARTETE ÄNDERUNG: H2SHIPS wird den Mehrwert von H2 für die Schifffahrt demonstrieren und ein Konzept für seine Einführung in NWE entwickeln. Emissionen werden dadurch vermieden: 46 TCO2, 561 kgNOx, 11 kgPM, 29 kgSO2. Die Kooperation legt den Grundstein für die Schaffung einer H2-Wertschöpfungskette. ERGEBNISSE: enthalten 2 sich ergänzende Pilotprojekte. Pilot 1 (NL) Bau eines H2-betriebenen Hafenschiffes in Amsterdam ; Pilot 2 (BE) Wasserstoffversorgung im offenen Meer für die Seeschifffahrt. Darüber hinaus wird ein Aktionsplan für die Realisierung eines H2SHIPS-Pilotprojektes in Paris im Jahr 2022 ausgearbeitet. LANGFRISTIGE WIRKUNG: Nach Projektende werden dank H2SHIPS 3 direkte Arbeitsplätze pro Jahr entstehen, sowie die Voraussetzungen dafür geschaffen, dass 2 % der neu gebauten und nachgerüsteten Schiffe mit einem Wasserstoffantrieb ausgestattet werden. 10 Jahre nach Projektende wird eine Senkung der Emissionen um 13626 TCO2, 151 TNOx, 3.1 TPM, 7.7 TSO2 pro Jahr erreicht.
