Description (EN):

Innovation is a critical aspect of regional development and SMEs capacity to compete and grow. The innovation healthy food & lifestyles ecosystem is envisaged as a space to exploit synergies between stakeholders, discuss common issues, enhance the knowledge & skills exchange. AHFES project aims to support a sustainable growth of healthy food & lifestyle sector and SMEs - a key actor of EU common market. Its purposes are to improve overall competitiveness and growth of SMEs in the value chain of healthy food and lifestyles by contributing to enhance a transnational innovation ecosystem that helps SMEs access knowledge, partners and markets and align their products and services to consumer needs and expectations. The proposed ecosystem & cooperative approach will contribute to an increased cooperation between different actors, involve & raise awareness of consumers through a series of events, actions & studies, provide services & trainings to SMEs and transfer the lessons learned to other organisations and regions.

O projeto AHFES pretende melhorar a competitividade e crescimento das PMEs da cadeia de valor de alimentos saudáveis, através do reforço de um ecossistema de inovação que facilite acesso ao conhecimento, parceiros e mercados, alinhando produtos e serviços com as preferências dos consumidores. AHFES apoiará o crescimento sustentável do sector de alimentos e vida saudável, especialmente das PMEs, atores cruciais do mercado comum europeu.

El objetivo de AHFES es la mejora competitiva y crecimiento en la cadena de valor de la alimentación y estilo de vida saludables, fortaleciendo un ecosistema de innovación transnacional que facilite el acceso de las Pyme al conocimiento, socios y mercados y que alinee sus productos y servicios con las necesidades y expectativas del consumidor. AHFES apoyará el crecimiento sostenible del sector de los alimentos y la vida sana, especialmente de las PYME, que son cruciales para el mercado común europeo.

Le projet AHFES vise à améliorer l’écosystème d'innovation transnationale permettant aux PME un meilleur accès aux partenaires, marchés et compréhension des besoins/attentes consommateurs pour favoriser leur croissance et compétitivité. Le projet soutiendra une croissance durable du secteur de l'alimentation et mode de vie sain tout en faisant des PME-un acteur clé du marché commun de l'UE.

Achievements (EN):

Sustainability: AHFES carried out a situation analysis of food companies from the perspective of sustainability. After this analysis was studied, a report was produced including recommendations to assist companies with the ecological transition to adopt sustainable processes. Which are considered a critical aspect for innovation, competitiveness and growth of SMEs, within the value chain of healthy food. AHFES undertook Intelligence gathering on current consumer trends. Check out the 25 market analysis reports on the AHFES website investigating Healthy food and lifestyle market research and analysis. AHFES facilitated networking and supported building transnational innovation partnerships through in person and online events and webinars. You can view 27 recordings on the AHFES youtube channel. AHFES created a data base and mapping of the Atlantic Area healthy food innovation ecosystem. Over 1100 contacts of stakeholders working in the Healthy food sector from across the 7 partner regions.

Expected Results (EN):

AHFES will improve conditions to encourage innovation in the healthy food&lifestyles sector, as well as communication, networking & cooperation between actors. On-going evaluation, monitoring of implementation processes & results, map of infrastructure, SWOT analyse will help to reduce an innovation gap in the sector & let to find adequate solutions for common problems of the Atlantic Area. All partners & stakeholders can expect to experience sustainable, long-term, economic impact through enhanced collaboration & innovation efforts, both in the Atlantic Area & in global growth markets.

Expected Outputs (EN):

• Analysis of the existing initiatives, policies & mechanisms for entrepreneurship, innovation & internationalisation. • Definition of the SMEs needs (technological, knowledge, administrative). • Matchmaking & networking between key value chain stakeholders with a view to transnational cooperation for entrepreneurship & innovation of SMEs. • Creation of the map of healthy food&lifestyles Infrastructure to strengthen transnational cooperation among regions, identify potential gaps & help mitigate risk along the value chain. • Networking, training support activities for SMEs based on the exchange & adaptation of best practices & joint, efficient solutions for common barriers. • Improving SMEs access to international markets by creating a transregional innovation ecosystem of SMEs. • Creation a more sustainable ecosystem in view to foster the customer-driven innovation. • Enhance transfer from research to the market thanks to the interaction between actors.
