El proyecto TIDE pretende desarrollar nuevos tipos de atracciones y servicios de turismo marítimo en el Atlántico basados en la cooperación, para compartir el patrimonio cultural entre regiones, aprovechando las nuevas tecnologías y herramientas de colaboración transnacional. El resultado principal será aumentar un 30% de las regiones Atlánticas utilicen las conclusiones del proyecto para mejorar sus políticas de explotación del patrimonio natural y cultural como motor de desarrollo económico hacia 2021.

Le projet TIDE vise à développer de nouveaux types d’attractions et de prestations touristiques maritimes sur l’Atlantique, basés sur un partenariat permettant de mettre en commun dans toutes les régions un patrimoine culturel, en s’appuyant sur les nouvelles technologies et les outils de collaboration transnationaux. Le but est d’atteindre 30% des régions en utilisant les résultats du projet pour améliorer leurs politiques pour exploiter le patrimoine naturel et culturel pour le développement économique d’ici 2021.

Description (EN):

The Atlantic Area has a very attractive cultural and historical identity, with a unique stock of historical marine assets related to trade, migration and wars which can benefit the socio-economic development of this region. TIDE project aims to develop and market new types of historical maritime tourist attractions and packages and cultural attractions for the Atlantic, supported by new technologies and transnational collaboration tools. The cultural assets could be in museums, shipwreck sites, or archives related to battles or migrating passengers and their stories, etc. These new attractions present cultural content from other regions, as well as their own; connect visitor centres to real underwater sites that contain shipwrecks or submarines; create a richer visitor experience by introducing new technologies such as Virtual Reality; focus on historical niches that have left a cultural footprint across Atlantic regions, e.g., Napoleonic; and are based in existing cultural attraction building. The expected impact is to increase the number of visits to supported cultural sites, facilitating local communities cooperate to develop new niche tourism services, create new local jobs, fix and attract people, create synergies between existing tourism providers and improve the economic and social well-being of the project regions.

Expected Results (EN): The project will contribute to increase by 30% the number of Atlantic regions using the project's outputs to improve their policies for exploiting natural and cultural assets as a driving force for economic development.

Expected Outputs (EN):

• Capitalisation Plan implemented, aiming to achieve 42% of AA regions using the project outputs by 2023. Series of 7 Sustainability Plans produced, one per region; • Common "cultural tourism ideas" Toolkit designed, developed and tested using 3 ideas in each region (21 across the 7 regions); • Online Platform designed and operational, using the ideas generated to cooperatively develop and deliver new multi-region networked tourism packages. • “Multi-region” niche tourism packages piloted with tourists across the partner regions.
