Das Ziel des Projekts ist, die Stärkung der Attraktivität des Gebiets des Muskauer Faltenbogens sowie die potentiellen Touristen anzuregen, länger in der Region zu bleiben und diese beiderseits der Neiße kennenzulernen sowie Einheimische zur aktiven und ökologischen Freizeitbeschäftigung anregen.
Zu den Projektmaßnahmen gehören folgende Vorhaben: Revitalisierung der bestehenden und Schaffung neuer touristischer und kultureller Infrastruktur (Touristeninformation, überdachter Grillstand, Fahrradständer, Lehrpfad, Ladestationen für E-Bikes und Elektroautos, thematische Spielwelt und Spielplatz, Hinweistafeln zu den Touristenwegen, Töpferwerkstatt), ein neues kulturelles Angebot anknüpfend an das gemeinsame Kulturerbe schaffen (Töpferkurse, Tandemtreffen, Fahrrad- und Wandertouren, Familienpicknick, Mehlfest), die kulturellen und natürlichen Attraktionen der Region inkl. neu geschaffener touristischer Infrastruktur gemeinsam vermarkten (Broschüren, Teilnahme an Messen und anderen touristischen Veranstaltungen, thematische Spielwelten).

The planned actions will comprise revitalisation of the tourist infrastructure (development and repair of tourist paths, tourist information, tourist shelter with a fire hearth, bike stands, didactic path, poles to recharge batteries in cars and bikes, thematic playgrounds, boards marking tourist trails, pottery studio), development of a cultural offer for the inhabitants linked to the shared heritage (pottery workshops, tandem meetings, walking and cycling rallies, family picnic, Flour Holiday), joint promotion of the region's natural and cultural attractions (brochures, participation in tourist fairs).

Das einzigartige Kultur- und Naturerbe der sich grenzüberschreitend zwischen den beiden Städten Trzebiel in Polen und Bad Muskau in Sachsen erstreckenden Landschaft in Gestalt des wohl schönsten Landschaftsparks in Europa – dem UNESCO-Welterbe Muskauer Park/Park Mużakowski sowie des einzigen UNESCO-Geoparks in Polen, d.h. dem Muskauer Faltenbogen, bildet den Ausgangspunkt zum Konzept des Projekts „Und in der Mitte fließt die Neiße - grenzüberschreitende Zusammenarbeit zur Verbesserung der touristischen Infrastruktur und des kulturellen Angebots in Bad Muskau und Trzebiel“.
Das Projekt verfolgte vor allem das Anliegen, die Zugänglichkeit zu den Naturräumen in der Region und damit den Wiedererkennungswert des Fördergebiets unter den potentiellen Gästen und Touristen, den Einrichtungen der Tourismusbranche sowie den Einwohner:innen selbst zu erhöhen und die Gäste dazu anzuhalten, hier länger zu verweilen und die Region von beiden Seiten der Lausitzer Neiße aus näher kennenzulernen. Die Einwohner:innen sollten wiederum zu einer aktiven Gestaltung ihrer Freizeit angehalten werden, wobei Belange des Umwelt- und Naturschutzes stets berücksichtigt werden sollten.
So gelang es, die bestehende touristische und kulturelle Infrastruktur zu revitalisieren und neue Infrastruktur zu errichten: eine Tourismusinformation wurde eröffnet, eine überdachter Grillplatz eingerichtet, neue Fahrradständer aufgestellt, ein Lehrpfad ausgewiesen, Ladestationen für E-Bikes und Elektroautos aufgestellt, thematische Spielplätze eingerichtet, Wanderwege ausgeschildert sowie eine Töpferwerkstatt eingerichtet.
Dieses neue Kulturangebot knüpfte gezielt an das gemeinsame Kulturerbe an: Töpferkurse, Tandemtreffen, Fahrrad- und Wandertouren, Familienpicknicks sowie ein „Fest des Mehls“. Im Rahmen der Neuausweisung und Reparaturarbeiten an den Wanderwegen konnte die Zugänglichkeit zu den besonders wertvollen Naturräumen maßgeblich verbessert werden. Alle Maßnahmen wurden von gemeinsam organisierten PR-Aktionen begleitet, zu denen u.a. die Teilnahme an Messen sowie die Herausgabe von Informationsbroschüren zählten.

The unique cultural and natural heritage of the landscape stretching across borders between the two cities of Trzebiel in Poland and Bad Muskau in Saxony, in the form of the probably most beautiful landscape park in Europe — the UNESCO World Heritage Site Muskauer Park/Park Mużakowski and the only UNESCO geopark in Poland, i.e. the Muskau folding arch, forms the starting point for the concept of the project “And in the middle the Neiße flows — cross-border cooperation to improve the tourist infrastructure and cultural offer in Bad Muskau and Trzebiel”.
The main aim of the project was to increase the accessibility to the natural areas in the region and thus the recognition value of the assisted area among potential guests and tourists, the facilities of the tourism industry as well as the inhabitants themselves, and to encourage guests to stay here longer and get to know the region from both sides of the Neiße. Residents: In turn, they should be encouraged to actively organise their leisure time, taking into account environmental and nature conservation concerns at all times.
Thus, it was possible to revitalise the existing tourist and cultural infrastructure and to build new infrastructure: a tourism information was opened, a covered barbecue area was set up, new bicycle stands installed, an educational trail designated, charging stations for e-bikes and electric cars set up, thematic playgrounds furnished, hiking trails signposted and a pottery workshop.
This new cultural offer was specifically linked to the common cultural heritage: Pottery classes, tandem meetings, bike and hiking tours, family picnics and a “Feast of Flour”. As part of the new identification and repair work on the hiking trails, accessibility to the particularly valuable natural spaces has been significantly improved. All measures were accompanied by jointly organised PR campaigns, including participation in trade fairs and the publication of information brochures.
