L'entrepreneuriat chez les jeunes favorise l’émergence de nouvelles activités de croissance, leurs projets innovants pouvant être dotés d'un fort potentiel et générer par la suite des créations d'entreprises et d'emplois. Or, Il n’existe actuellement pas de programme collectif visant à développer les échanges franco-belges sur l'entreprenariat des jeunes surtout sur le long terme. L’objectif principal du projet TRANSFIRM est de favoriser la création de nouvelles activités transfrontalières par des étudiants entrepreneurs, notamment dans des filières technologiques, scientifiques ou en économie sociale et solidaire. Le projet vise en outre à promouvoir la mobilité transfrontalière des étudiants et favoriser les rencontres avec les réseaux d’appui transfrontaliers, de construire des partenariats et des projets d’entreprises transfrontaliers conjoints entre étudiants entrepreneurs et de développer des synergies en offre académique transfrontalière. Dans un premier temps, le projet vise à faire un état des lieux des dispositifs et actions existants sur l’ensemble du territoire et à élaborer des recommandations pour la diffusion des meilleures pratiques. Ensuite, un programme de formation pour l’entrepreneuriat transfrontalier sera proposé aux jeunes futurs entrepreneurs. TRANSFIRM favorise la création de projets sur des thèmes de société par des étudiants sous forme d'équipes transfrontalières, mobilisant également les collectivités territoriales.

Youth entrepreneurship encourages the emergence of new growth activities, as their innovative projects can have high potential and subsequently generate new businesses and jobs. However, there is currently no collective programme aimed at developing Franco-Belgian exchanges around youth entrepreneurship, especially in the long term. The main objective of the TRANSFIRM project is to encourage the creation of new cross-border activities by student entrepreneurs, particularly in technological, scientific or social and solidarity economy fields. The project also aims to promote cross-border student mobility and encourage meetings with cross-border support networks, to build partnerships and joint cross-border business projects between student entrepreneurs and to develop synergies in the cross-border academic offer. As a first step, the project aims to take stock of existing mechanisms and actions throughout the country and to develop recommendations for the dissemination of best practices. Subsequently, a training programme for cross-border entrepreneurship will be offered to young up-and-coming entrepreneurs. TRANSFIRM promotes the creation of projects on social themes by students in the form of cross-border teams, also involving local authorities.

Het ondernemerschap van de jongeren is bevorderlijk voor de opkomst van nieuwe activiteiten. Hun innovatieve projecten hebben vaak een sterk potentieel en kunnen aanleiding geven tot de creatie van bedrijven en werkgelegenheid. Vandaag bestaat er geen collectief programma voor de ontwikkeling van Frans-Belgisch uitwisselingen rond ondernemerschap bij jongeren, vooral op lange termijn. Het hoofddoel van het project TRANSFIRM is de creatie van nieuwe, grensoverschrijdende activiteiten door studenten die ondernemer willen worden, bevorderen, in het bijzonder in de technologische of wetenschappelijke sector en in de sociale en solidaire economie. Het project wil bovendien de grensoverschrijdende mobiliteit van de studenten promoten, de ontmoetingen met de netwerken voor grensoverschrijdende steun bevorderen, partnerschappen oprichten, projecten opstarten voor gezamenlijke, grensoverschrijdende ondernemingen tussen studenten die ondernemer willen worden en synergieën in het grensoverschrijdende academische aanbod ontwikkelen. Om te beginnen wil het project een stand van zaken maken van de bestaande voorzieningen en acties op het hele grondgebied en aanbevelingen uitwerken voor de verspreiding van de beste praktijken. Vervolgens zal aan de jonge, toekomstige ondernemers een opleidingsprogramma rond grensoverschrijdend ondernemerschap worden aangeboden. TRANSFIRM stimuleert de creatie van projecten rond maatschappelijke thema’s door studenten in de vorm van grensoverschrijdende teams, die ook de overheden van het grondgebied betrekken.

Achievements (FR):

Le projet TRANSFIRM vise à développer des liens entre les structures d’accompagnement à l’entrepreneuriat étudiant et les étudiants-entrepreneurs des trois régions transfrontalières : le Nord de la France, la Wallonie Picarde et la Flandre. Plusieurs actions ont été mise en place : des recherches, des challenges et des formations transfrontalières notamment. Deux travaux de recherches ont été menés. Une recherche a été mené par l’UCLouvain. Les différentes structures d’accompagnement à l’entrepreneuriat-étudiant sur le territoire ont été interrogés de manière à avoir un état des lieux de l’accompagnement sur les trois régions. Les recherches se sont également intéressées aux étudiants-entrepreneur. Des étudiants accompagnés ont été interrogés pour identifier leurs besoins et avoir leurs feedbacks sur les méthodes d’accompagnement proposés par les structures. Des focus-groupes avec des étudiants de chaque région ont été organisés en 2020. Les premiers résultats de ces recherches ont été présentés aux partenaires et aux structures d’accompagnement lors d’un workshop en juin 2021. Ces activités ont d’abord permis aux responsables des structures d’accompagnement d’étudiants entrepreneurs de nos diverses institutions d’apprendre à se connaitre, d’échanger et de visiter les lieux de chacun. Si ce premier élément peut paraitre banal, il est pourtant original et très nourrissant dans un monde où chaque écosystème éducatif entrepreneurial agit de façon très autonome et isolée sur son seul territoire géographique local. Cette réalité de fonctionnement est d’ailleurs documentée par notre recherche. Celle-ci a également permis de souligner les avantages que représenterait une approche plus transnationale (partage des expertises, des outils, cross-fertilisation des acteurs), tout en pointant les difficultés potentielles (créer un parcours transnational d’accompagnement qui fait sens nécessiterait que chacun se spécialise dans un domaine plus spécifique alors qu’aujourd’hui nous avons des expertises très similaires. En parallèle, un autre travail de recherche a été mené par l'UMons pour définir la probabilité pour qu'une idée entrepreneuriale, dès le tout début de son expression, se transforme en un projet d'entreprise à fort potentiel de croissance. Plusieurs constats on ainsi, été dressés à la suite de cette analyse. En premier lieu, il est important de souligner que le commerce est toujours une valeur sure sur le plan de la rentabilité économique et du chiffre d’affaires, et ce, quelles que soient la période considérée et la taille des entreprises. En deuxième lieu, la fabrication et la construction sont, également, des secteurs porteurs, mais ont connu des ralentissements importants en 2020. Ces ralentissements ont été compensés dans le cas d’entreprise à la taille suffisante (PME). Quant à l’hébergement et à la restauration, il s’agit d’un secteur pouvant être intéressant, mais il semble trop cyclique pour être considéré comme une valeur sure, quelle que soit la taille de l’entreprise. Les PME de ce domaine semblent moins influencées par la crise sanitaire. Le transport et le stockage sont également en pleine hausse. À nouveau, les PME de ce secteur semblent moins influencées par la crise sanitaire.Enfin, chez les PME, des secteurs comme l’éducation ou comme les activités financières et d’assurance semblait extrêmement porteurs avant la crise sanitaire, la question est de savoir s’ils redeviendront rentables. Les résultats de ces recherches ont été présentés lors d’un événement le 10 décembre 2021. Cet évènement a permis de présenter les écosystèmes de l’entrepreneuriat étudiant des trois régions. Pierre Gagnaire, entrepreneur gastronomique international, chef étoilé renommé, a donné une conférence ce 10 décembre, cette conférence a été retransmise en ligne. Des événements ont été organisés, ouverts aux étudiants des trois régions. Une première rencontre s'est organisée le 18 décembre 2018 au Hangar-K à Kortrijk par nos partenaires, l'Université de Gand et HOWEST. L'événement consistait à « pitcher » son projet entre étudiants et jeunes entrepreneurs des établissements partenaires de TRANSFIRM et à partager un moment d'échanges avec les coachs présents. Ce jour-là, 55 étudiants-entrepreneurs ou en recherche de création étaient présents (5 étudiants de France, 6 étudiants de Wallonie, 44 étudiants de Flandre). Un deuxième événement - le lancement officiel de TRANSFIRM - s'est déroulé le 27 février 2019 au FabLab TechShop Leroy Merlin de Lille. Dans le cadre d'un atelier créatif de prototypage d'objets, l'objectif était de créer une cohésion d'équipe entre les étudiants-entrepreneurs français et belges. 12 étudiants, (4 étudiants des Hauts-de-France et 8 étudiants de Wallonie) ont participé à un atelier créatif de prototypage d'objets. Le même jour, une conférence de presse de lancement a eu lieu. Une troisième rencontre a eu lieu à l'occasion de la Student Projects Week en Wallonie du 25 au 29 mars 2019. En effet, des incubateurs belges spécialisés dans l'accompagnement d'étudiants entrepreneurs - La Maison de l'Entreprise et le Start Me Up Challenge - ont invité les partenaires de TRANSFIRM à tenir un stand durant ces journées de sensibilisation à l'entrepreneuriat-étudiant, mêlant conférences et exposition de projets. Ainsi, 7 étudiants-entrepreneurs français ont participé aux conférences à Mons et Charleroi. Certains challenges existants ont été diffusés auprès des partenaires pour attirer des étudiants transfrontaliers, c'est le cas par exemple du challenge HIBSTER qui s'est déroulé à Lille et auquel 4 étudiantes wallonnes et 6 étudiantes flamandes ont pu participé. Une formation de l'IAE (Université de Lille) a été ouverte aux étudiants belges et 2 étudiants de Condorcet y ont participé. Une session de trois ateliers transfrontaliers a été organisée en ligne en mai 2021. Aussi, 3 sessions de coaching transfrontalière ont eu lieu en octobre et novembre 2021. 13 étudiants français, 9 flamands et 15 wallons ont été coachés par des experts issus des trois régions. Ainsi, 123 étudiants ont participé à des programmes d'entrepreneuriat grâce à TRANSFIRM. Un challenge transfrontalier a été organisé : le Flourishing Business Challenge, qui devait se dérouler sur trois jours avec des formations et des sessions de travail entre étudiants issus des trois régions pour répondre à une problématique de développement transfrontalier. Malheureusement, la situation sanitaire a entraîné le report de cet événement en février, mars et avril 2021, en visio. The TRANSFIRM project aims to develop links between student entrepreneurship support structures and student-entrepreneurs in the three cross-border regions: northern France, Wallonia Picarde and Flanders. Several actions have been put in place: research, challenges and cross-border training in particular. Two research work has been carried out. A research was conducted by UCLouvain. The various support structures for entrepreneurship-students on the territory were questioned in order to have an inventory of the accompaniment of the three regions. The research was also interested in student-entrepreneurs. Accompanied students were interviewed to identify their needs and have their feedback on the support methods proposed by the structures. Focus groups with students from each region were organised in 2020. The first results of this research were presented to partners and support structures during a workshop in June 2021. These activities first allowed the managers of the support structures of student entrepreneurs from our various institutions to get to know each other, exchange and visit each other’s places. Although this first element may seem banal, it is original and very nourishing in a world where each entrepreneurial educational ecosystem acts in a very autonomous and isolated way in its only local geographical territory. This working reality is also documented by our research. It also highlighted the benefits of a more transnational approach (sharing expertise, tools, cross-fertilisation of actors), while pointing out potential difficulties (creating a meaningful transnational path of support would require everyone to specialise in a more specific field whereas today we have very similar expertise. At the same time, another research work was carried out by the UMons to define the probability that an entrepreneurial idea, from the very beginning of its expression, will turn into a business project with high growth potential. Several findings were thus drawn up as a result of this analysis. First, it is important to emphasise that trade is always a sure value in terms of economic profitability and turnover, regardless of the period considered and the size of the companies. Secondly, manufacturing and construction are also buoyant sectors, but experienced significant slowdowns in 2020. These slowdowns were offset in the case of enterprises of sufficient size (SMEs). As for accommodation and catering, this is a sector that can be interesting, but it seems too cyclical to be considered a safe value, regardless of the size of the company. SMEs in this area appear to be less influenced by the health crisis. Transport and storage are also on the rise. Again, SMEs in this sector seem less influenced by the health crisis.Finally, among SMEs, sectors such as education or financial and insurance activities seemed extremely promising before the health crisis, the question is whether they will become profitable again. The results of this research were presented at an event on December 10, 2021. This event presented the ecosystems of student entrepreneurship in the three regions. Pierre Gagnaire, international gastronomic entrepreneur, renowned star chef, gave a conference on December 10, this conference was broadcast online. Events were organised, open to students from all three regions. A first meeting was organised on December 18, 2018 at Hangar-K in Kortrijk by our partners, the University of Ghent and HOWEST. The event consisted of “pitching” his project between students and young entrepreneurs of TRANSFIRM’s partner institutions and sharing a moment of exchange with the coaches present. Indeed, Belgian incubators specialised in supporting student entrepreneurs — La Maison de l’Entreprise and the Start Me Up Challenge — invited TRANSFIRM’s partners to hold a stand during these student-entrepreneurship awareness days, mixing conferences and project exhibitions. Thus, seven French students-entrepreneurs participated in the conferences in Mons and Charleroi. Some existing challenges have been disseminated to partners to attract cross-border students, for example the Hibster challenge that took place in Lille and in which 4 Walloon and 6 Flemish students were able to participate. A training course from the IAE (University of Lille) was opened to Belgian students and 2 students from Condorcet participated. A session of three cross-border workshops was organised online in May 2021. Therefore, 3 cross-border coaching sessions took place in October and November 2021. 13 French, 9 Flemish and 15 Walloon students were coached by experts from the three regions. 123 students participated in entrepreneurship programs through TRANSFIRM. A cross-border challenge was organised: the Flourishing Business Challenge, which was to take place over three days with training and work sessions between students from the three regions to address a cross-border development problem. Résultats attendus : former et accompagner les jeunes entrepreneurs pour leur permettre de mettre en œuvre des projets de création de nouvelles activités sur le territoire transfrontalier. Une centaine d'étudiants sont concernés. Une centaine d'étudiants seront concernés par la mise en oeuvre concrète de leur projet. Les sessions de formation conjointes et mixtes favorisera leur mobilité et développera leur sens de l'appréciation des différences nationales.

Verwachte resultaten: de jonge ondernemers opleiden en begeleiden om hen in staat te stellen projecten voor de creatie van nieuwe activiteiten op het grensgebied te verwezenlijken. De doelgroep bestaat uit een honderdtal studenten. Bij de concrete uitvoering van het project zullen zo’n honderd studenten betrokken zijn. De gezamenlijke en gemengde opleidingssessies zullen hun mobiliteit bevorderen en hun waardering voor de nationale verschillen ontwikkelen.

Les réalisations attendues sont la créations d'activités transfrontalières à haut potentiel de croissance, ainsi qu'une mise en réseau des étudiants entrepreneurs, des établissements de formations, collectivités territoriales et des entreprises.
