Nos régions transfrontalières sont sujettes à des inégalités de soins et on y observe une augmentation de certaines maladies comme les cancers broncho-pulmonaires alors que le dépistage précoce permet une hausse de guérison de 15 à 80%. Pour faciliter l’accès de toutes les populations de part et d’autres de la frontière, PATHACOV développe une nouvelle offre de service de soins dans le dépistage. Une technique simple, non invasive et peu coûteuse est développée pour dépister précocement le cancer par l’analyse de composés volatils dans l’haleine des populations. Cinq centres hospitaliers et six laboratoires de recherche s’unissent pour élaborer le prototype d’un capteur visant à dépister précocement le risque de cancers dans la population transfrontalière. Le défi relevé par ce projet repose sur des compétences spécifiques et complémentaires de part et d’autre de la frontière. La plus-value est de développer une culture commune via des échanges de bonnes pratiques, méthodes innovantes et des produits finaux bénéfiques pour les populations transfrontalières et les politiques des territoires. Afin de sensibiliser et de développer ce dépistage précoce, des scénarios réalistes et une communication large sur le projet sont menés en collaboration avec les autorités politiques locales et professionnelles de santé, les associations de patients et tous les acteurs de santé proches des populations.

Our cross-border regions are subject to inequalities in terms of healthcare and there is an increase in certain diseases such as bronchopulmonary cancers, while early detection makes it possible to increase recovery rates from 15% to 80%. To facilitate access for all populations on both sides of the border, PATHACOV is developing a new range of screening care services. A simple, non-invasive and inexpensive technique is being developed to detect cancer early by analysing volatile compounds in the breath of populations. Five hospitals and six research laboratories are working together to develop a prototype sensor to detect the risk of cancer in the cross-border population at an early stage. The challenge taken up by this project is based on specific and complementary skills on both sides of the border. The added value is to develop a common culture through exchanges of good practices, innovative methods and end products that benefit cross-border populations and territorial policies. In order to raise awareness and develop this early screening, realistic scenarios and broad communication on the project are carried out in collaboration with local political and occupational health authorities, patient associations and all health stakeholders at grassroots level.

Onze grensregio’s hebben te kampen met ongelijkheid in de zorgverlening. We merken een stijging van bepaalde ziekten, zoals kanker aan de luchtwegen, terwijl vroegtijdige opsporing de genezingskansen met 15 tot 80% verhoogt. Om de toegang van de volledige bevolking aan beide zijden van de grens te verbeteren, ontwikkelt PATHACOV een nieuw aanbod van zorgverstrekking op het gebied van de opsporing. Er wordt een eenvoudige, niet-invasieve, goedkope techniek ontwikkeld om kanker vroegtijdig op te sporen door de analyse van vluchtige stoffen in de adem van de mensen. Vijf ziekenhuiscentra en zes onderzoekslaboratoria slaan de handen in elkaar voor de ontwikkeling van het prototype van een sensor om het risico op kanker bij de grensbevolking aan beide zijden van de grens vroegtijdig op te sporen. De uitdaging van dit project berust op specifieke, complementaire competenties aan beide zijden van de grens. De meerwaarde is de ontwikkeling van een gemeenschappelijke cultuur via de uitwisseling van goede praktijken, innovatieve methoden en eindproducten die ten goede komen aan de grensbevolking en het beleid in de verschillende zones. Met het oog op sensibilisering en de ontwikkeling van deze vroegtijdige opsporing worden realistische scenario’s en een grootschalige communicatiecampagne over het project uitgewerkt in samenwerking met de lokale overheden en diensten voor volksgezondheid, patiëntenverenigingen en alle gezondheidsactoren die dicht bij de bevolking staan.

Expected Outputs (FR): Le projet ambitionne de développer et réaliser des concepts et des méthodologies innovants dans le domaine sanitaire. Des brochures seront disponibles en flamand et français pour toucher le grand public.
