This project combines the charming historical tourist railways dating back from the second half of the 1800s and the early 1900s and the areas over which they cross. The latter offer historical and cultural value, a beautiful landscape and environment, hiking, sports and typical productions. Promoting the railways, attractions of the related areas and development opportunities for the very many micro, small and medium-sized enterprises of the tourism sector and those specialised in typical products are three challenges that the Regions of the Programme area have decided to address jointly. Infrastructure has always been a critical factor in development. TRENO intends to use this unique type of railway transport to attract more tourists from outside the cooperation area, even in less busy periods of the year. Thanks to these original attractions, increased demand can generate tourism development opportunities for the railway areas. It can improve the competitiveness of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, which struggle to play a central role in the chain of innovative and sustainable tourism because they specialise in niche productions and thus risk remaining on the sidelines. Sharing experiences and strategies and developing a joint action plan to design targeted pilot actions will allow the partners to promote the historic railways. With the help of a little infrastructure, they will improve key locations valuable for their history, culture, landscape, environment, hiking, sports and typical products.

TRENO conjugue deux importants éléments d'intérêt touristique pour le territoire transfrontalier: le charme des chemins de fer historiques et touristiques construites entre la deuxième moitié de 1800 et le début de 1900 et les territoires traversés par telles lignes, caractérisés par des éléments de valeur historique, culturel, paysager, environnemental, des randonnés, sportif et des productions typiques. La valorisation des chemins de fer, des éléments d’attractivité des territoires traversés et la création d'opportunité de développement, pour les nombreuses micro, petites et moyennes entreprises du secteur touristique et pour celles spécialisées en produits typiques, elles sont trois défis que les Régions du Programme ont décidé de faire face conjointement. Les infrastructures sont un facteur clé de développement du territoire. TRENO vise à utiliser cette typologie de transport ferroviaire pour augmenter le numéro de touristes non-résidents dans l’espace de coopération, aussi dans les périodes de l'année qui enregistrent une diminution significative. L'augmentation de la demande, en effet, peut produire opportunités de développement de l'offre touristique pour les territoires traversés par les différentes lignes, grâce à l'unicité des attractivités, et améliorer la compétitivité des micro et PME qui, spécialisées en productions de niche, fatiguent à jouer un rôle dans la filière du tourisme innovant et durable et, donc, sont à risque de marginalisation. Le partage d'expériences et stratégies et l'élaboration d'un Plan d'action conjoint pour la création d'actions pilotes visées permettront aux partenaires de valoriser les chemins de fer historiques, en améliorant l'accessibilité, grâce aussi à la réalisation de petites infrastructures en endroits clés caractérisés par des éléments de valeur historique, culturelle, paysagère, environnementale, des randonnés, sportive et des productions typiques.

TRENO coniuga due importanti elementi di interesse turistico per il territorio transfrontaliero: il fascino delle ferrovie storiche e turistiche costruite tra la seconda metà del 1800 e l’inizio del 1900 e i territori attraversati da tali linee, caratterizzati da elementi di pregio storico, culturale, paesaggistico, ambientale, escursionistico, sportivo e da produzioni tipiche. La valorizzazione delle ferrovie, la valorizzazione degli elementi caratterizzanti di attrattività dei territori attraversati e la creazione di opportunità di sviluppo, per le numerosissime micro, piccole e medie imprese operanti nel settore turistico e per quelle specializzate in prodotti tipici, sono tre sfide che le Regioni dell’area del Programma hanno deciso di affrontare congiuntamente. Le infrastrutture sono da sempre un fattore chiave di sviluppo del territorio. TRENO intende utilizzare questa caratteristica tipologia di trasporto ferroviario per favorire l’incremento di turisti residenti al di fuori dell’area di cooperazione, anche nei periodi dell’anno che registrano una significativa flessione. L’aumento della domanda, infatti, può generare opportunità di sviluppo dell’offerta turistica per i territori attraversati dalle diverse linee, grazie all’unicità delle attrattive esistenti, e migliorare la competitività di micro, piccole e medie imprese che, in quanto specializzate in produzioni di nicchia, faticano a giocare un ruolo nella filiera del turismo innovativo e sostenibile e, quindi, sono a rischio di marginalizzazione. La condivisione di esperienze e strategie e l’elaborazione di un piano d’azione congiunto per la progettazione di azioni pilota mirate permetteranno ai partner di valorizzare le ferrovie storiche, migliorandone l’accessibilità, grazie anche alla realizzazione di piccole infrastrutture in luoghi chiave caratterizzati da particolari elementi di pregio storico, culturale, paesaggistico, ambientale, escursionistico, sportivo e da produzioni tipiche.
