L’objectif du projet est de réaliser le prolongement de la ligne de tram n°8 de Bâle vers Weil am Rhein. Grâce à cette ligne de tram, la ville de Weil am Rhein sera rattachée au réseau de transports en commun de l’agglomération trinationale de Bâle, ce qui facilitera le rapprochement des espaces économiques de Südbaden et Bâle, et permettra de reporter sur les transports en commun une partie des 20.000 travailleurs transfrontaliers qui se transitent chaque jour.

Ziel des Projekts ist die Verlängerung der Tramlinie Nr. 8 von Basel nach Weil am Rhein. Die Stadt Weil am Rhein wird mit diesem Projekt an das bestehende Straßenbahnnetz der Agglomeration Basel angebunden. Durch das zusätzliche Angebot wird das Zusammenwachsen der Wirtschaftsräume Südbaden und Basel, sowie die Verlagerung auf den öffentlichen Personennahverkehr eines Teils der täglich ca. 20.000 grenzüberschreitenden Pendler, ermöglicht
