Main objective : The CROSS BORDER ASSOCIATION project aims to improve health and life conditions of people suffering from social exclusion. Its goal is to implement a cross-border network for public health & social care professionals. Indeed, social inequalities very often produce health inequalities. As an example, obesity is a major public health issue in France and in England. This Anglo-French issue affects every social group, yet populations at risk are 3 to 4 times more affected. Main actions : - Data collection to obtain health statistics - Organisation of study visits in Kent and in Somme and comparison of French and English health systems on a national and local scale - Writing of bilingual evaluation report after the visits in Kent and Somme

Description (FR):

Objectif général : Le projet CROSS BORDER ASSOCIATION a pour but d’améliorer les conditions de santé et la qualité de vie des personnes souffrant d’exclusion sociale. Il vise à mettre en place un réseau transfrontalier pour les professionnels médico-sociaux et de santé publique. En effet, les inégalités sociales génèrent, le plus souvent, des inégalités de santé. A titre d’exemple, l’obésité est un problème de santé publique majeur en France et en Angleterre. Si cette problèmatique concerne toutes les catégories sociales, les personnes en situation de précarité sont 3 à 4 fois plus atteintes. Principales actions : - Collecte de données pour fournir des statistiques franco-britanniques sur la santé. - Mise en place de visites d’études dans le Kent et dans la Somme et comparaison entre les systèmes de la santé publique en France et en Angleterre au niveau national et local. - Rédaction de rapports bilingues d’évaluation des visites dans le Kent et dans la Somme.

Main achievements : - 1 visit of the Somme delegation in Kent and Medway (27-29 January 2010): Visit of NHS West Kent headquarters Presentation on public health and general presentation of the Department of Public health staff, its role and missions. Presentation of Kent and Medway Public Health Observatories’ missions Visits of different local health centres managed by NHS West Kent Visit of the Lordswood Healthy Living Centre in Chatham, Medway Observation of a local childhood obesity programme Presentation on the adoption of the national ‘Triple AIM’ initiative by the primary care trusts (PCTs) NHS Kent and Meday - 1 visit of the Kent and Medway delegation to Amiens in the Somme region (27-29 April 2010): Presentation of the ARS (Regional Health Authority), the URML (Regional Union of Doctors) and the DRJSCS (Regional Department for Youth, Sport and Social Cohesion) Presentation on health prevention and screening, screening for neonatal deafness at the CHRU (Regional University Teaching Hospital), health check-ups for 16 to 25 year olds, presentation on screening for breast and colon cancer Overview of the Directorate of and Social Cohesion

Principales réalisations / résultats : - 1 visite de la délégation de la Somme dans le Kent et dans le Medway réalisée du 27 au 29 janvier 2010 : Visite du siège du NHS West Kent. Présentation sur la santé publique et présentation générale des personnels du Département de la santé publique, de leurs rôles et de leurs missions. Présentation sur le rôle du Kent et du Medway Public Health Observatory. Visites de différents centres de santé locaux gérés par NHS West Kent. Visite du centre Lordswood Healthy Living Centre à Chatham, Medway. Observation des activités d’un programme local de lutte contre l’obésité des enfants. Présentation sur l’adoption de l'initiative nationale "triple AIM" par le groupement de soins primaire (PCTs) de NHS Kent et de Medway - 1 visite de la délégation du Kent et du Medway à Amiens dans la Somme réalisée du 27 au 29 avril 2010 : Présentation de l’ARS (Agence Régionale de Santé), l’URML (L’Union Régionale des Médecins Libéraux), et la DRJSCS (Direction Régionale de la Jeunesse, des Sports et de la Cohésion Sociale). Présentation sur la prévention sanitaire et le dépistage, le dépistage de la surdité néonatale au CHRU, les contrôles de santé pour les jeunes de 16 à 25 ans, le dépistage des cancers du sein et du colon. Présentation générale de la Direction de la cohésion sociale.
