Objectif général : L’objectif du projet CRESH est de permettre une gestion durable des céphalopodes en Manche. En effet, les céphalopodes (calmar et seiche) sont en Manche des ressources partagées, exploitées par les flottilles de France et du Royaume-Uni. Ils représentent une part croissante du revenu des pêcheurs de ces deux pays. Le projet porte sur l’étude des céphalopodes, des différents stades de développement, des zones de pontes et du renouvellement de ces ressources marines. Le projet propose de combiner différentes statistiques pour mettre à jour les estimations de stock et celles du recrutement (degré de repeuplement par des juvéniles/œufs). A partir des données recueillies, le projet prévoit également de fournir des recommandations aux pêcheurs et à leurs partenaires pour une gestion durable des céphalopodes. Principales actions : - Synthèse des observations antérieures d’œufs et de juvéniles (enquêtes auprès des professionnels, pêcheurs, ostréiculteurs, observatoires etc.). - Observation in situ sur zones de reproduction naturelles (côtes anglaises et françaises). - Analyse des aires potentielles de reproduction. - Suivi des paralarves et juvéniles provenant de différentes zones. - Etude de la relation trophiques aux stades œufs et juvéniles. - Analyse de la différentiation génétique et code-barre génétique pour paralarves. - Traçage de l'origine des juvéniles à partir d’éléments traces et d’isotopes. - Intégration des nouvelles données dans la modélisation des populations. - Etude des mesures de protection pour la préservation de l’écosystème.

Description (EN):

Main objective : The CRESH project aims to encourage a sustainable management of cephalopods in the Channel area. Indeed, cephalopods (squids and cuttlefishes) in this region are a shared resource, exploited by both French and British fishing industry. They represent an increasing proportion of the fishers’ incomes in both countries. The project studies cephalopod species, their different stages of development, their spawning grounds and the renewal of marine resources. CRESH offers to combine different statistics to update stock and recruitment assessments (level of repopulation by eggs and juveniles). Thanks to the collected data, the project also plans to provide recommendations to fishermen and to their partners for a sustainable cephalopod management. Main actions : - Compilation of pre-existing knowledge about egg and juvenile observations (questionnaires to fishermen, oyster framers and other persons with activities in the coastal zone including marine lab monitoring) - In situ observation of natural substratum where spawning females attach their eggs (English and French coastal waters) - Spatial analysis of potential spawning areas - Monitoring of paralarvae and juvenile hatched in different areas - Trophic relationships in egg-juvenile stages - Analysis of genetic differentiation and genetic barcoding of squid paralarvae - Tracking juvenile origin with trace elements and stable isotope analysis - Integration of new results about cohort strength into population modelling - Feasibility and usefulness of protecting measures for the preservation of ecosystem biodiversity

Achievements (FR):

Principales réalisations / résultats : - Synthèse des observations antérieures d’œufs et de juvéniles : 1 base de données géo-référencées interopérable créée. - Observations des supports naturels utilisés pour la ponte des seiches réalisés (2 sites français et 1 site anglais). - 900 œufs récoltés sur 3 sites pour le suivi des paralarves et des juvéniles. - Echantillons de seiches juvéniles récoltés (site de la baie de Seine et de la baie de Somme et de la zone côtière proche de Dieppe). - Marqueurs moléculaires discriminants entre les différentes espèces de calmars du genre Loligo réalisés. - 1 Article publié dans le journal hebdomadaire « Le Marin ».

Main achievements : - Compilation of pre-existing knowledge about egg and juvenile observations: creation of interoperable geo-referenced databases - Observations of the cuttlefish natural spawning supports (2 French sites, 1 English site) - 900 eggs collected on 3 different sites for the paralarvae and juveniles monitoring - Juvenile cuttlefishes samples collected (Somme bay, Seine bay and Dieppe coastal zone) - Realization of discriminating molecular markers between different squid species (Loligo type) - 1 article published in the weekly newspaper “Le Marin”
