Description: Objectif général : AQUAMANCHE vise à faciliter la gestion des eaux continentales et littorales en se basant sur l’étude des pollutions microbiennes de différents bassins versants en France et en Angleterre. Le projet permettra de disposer d’outils pratiques pour améliorer la prévision, réduire les risques et faciliter la gestion des eaux continentales et littorales de la région en appliquant une stratégie innovante de Typage des Sources Microbiennes (TSM). Cet outil associera des méthodes TSM, des outils de modélisation et un site web bilingue permettant d’apporter une information publique pour une prévision rationnelle des risques et des réponses à la pollution due aux eaux usées et aux rejets d’origine agricoles en Manche. Principales actions : - Développement et évaluation de cinq approches de typage des sources microbiennes permettant d’identifier la source de pollution (ovine, bovine, humaine…). - Prélèvement d’échantillon d’eau dans les bassins versants des rivières Ouse, Yealm, Ay et Mignonne. - Analyses des données et développement d’un système d’information géographique. - Interaction avec les groupes de gestionnaire des eaux (y compris les organisations concernées par l’usage des eaux récréatives ---------------- Main objective : The AQUAMANCHE project, based on the study of microbial pollution in French and British catchment areas, aims to facilitate the management of continental and coastal waters. The project will provide practical tools to improve prediction, to reduce risks and to facilitate the continental and coastal waters management using the innovative application of microbial source tracking (MST). This toolbox will combine MST methods, modelling tools and a bilingual website provide a public resource for rational risk prediction, pollution prevention and response to wastewater and agricultural pollution of surface waters in the Channel area. Main actions : - Development and evaluation of 5 MST approaches to identify the source of the pollution (ovine, bovine, human…) - Water sampling in Ouse, Yealm, Ay and Mignonne river catchments - Data analysis and development of a geographic information system (GIS) - Interaction with stakeholders (including recreational water activity organisations)
Achievements: For the first time French and UK expertise in the emerging field of ‘Microbial Source Tracking’ has been brought together • Catchment studies throughout the France-Channel England Region have benefitted greatly from cross-Channel knowledge exchange • A common cross-Channel approach to modelling aquatic pollution in river catchments emerging • Novel approaches to communicating science and sharing knowledge with French and UK stakeholders in the Region Principales réalisations / résultats : - 4 méthodes d’identification des sources de pollution microbiennes mises en place. - Études de terrain et prélèvements réalisés. - 2 échanges de personnel entre partenaires pour le partage des méthodes de travail scientifique. ---------------- Main achievements : - Implementation of 4 methods to identify pollution sources - Realization of field studies and samples - 2 staff exchanges between partners to share scientific work methods
