Description (EN):

AYCH will build a model of social innovation for young people supporting social entrepreneurship, employment and education in the creative and cultural industries, across the Atlantic Area. Connecting people, ideas, skills, technologies and enterprises across a network of hubs the project will unlock the creative, entrepreneurial potential of young people focussing on key themes such as innovation, co-creation of products, social entrepreneurship and employability. Central to the delivery of the project is the establishment of a network of transnational, connected and multidisciplinary hubs that will stimulate idea generation, pre-startup and early stage business startup support to young people both distanced from the labour market and those seeking a career, or self-employment in the creative sector. Addressing the market failure in the provision of youth service and start up support to young people that captures imagination and channels creativity into the creation of new products and services, the project will raise aspirations for enterprise, creating both social and economic capital, connecting employers to talent, supporting growth and jobs in the sector.

Achievements (EN):

The Atlantic Area faces high rates of youth unemployment and under-employment while at the same time, there’s a market failure in providing youth services and start-up support to young people, who channel their imagination and creativity in creating new products and services. AYCH is dedicated to youth up to 30 years old seeking a career or self-employment in the creative sector, open both for young people with lower education and for postgraduated and offers help in building on their creative ideas. The project role is to encourage entrepreneurship, enterprise and employment skills by connecting people, ideas, skills and technologies across a network of international hubs. The project established this collaborative network of multidisciplinary centres, the Atlantic Horizon Hubs, in the fields of creativity, technology and social enterprise, allowing young people to jointly stimulate new ideas and identify market opportunities, in transnational teams and with the support of a team of international experts, as well as through residencies and internships. All skills, technology and knowledge have been shared through virtual and physical workshops, seminars and the commercial and global challenges that young entrepreneurs respond to through Local or International Creative Jams. This network is the result of both formal and non-formal educational settings for youth in the Atlantic Area, giving a body of very active young ambassadors the opportunity of successful self-realisation and to change their lives. To support the connections and transnational collaboration, the Atlantic Horizon Hubs are embedded into youth service provision in each partner area and beyond, where they have created local ecosystems of entrepreneurship, supporting the adoption of the model across the Atlantic regions. AYCH thus supports local economic growth, job creation by connecting employers to talent and in the longer term, reduces youth unemployment. Expected Results (EN):

The project expects to lower youth unemployment rates, in the partner areas, raise awareness of social enterprise as an option for business startup, promoting responsible, sustainable entrepreneurship and improve youth services to create more dynamic, entrepreneurial, inspiring environments where young people can co-create, connect across borders and dramatically improve employability, providing vital incubation space and services to young entrepreneurs in the Creative and Cultural Industries.

Expected Outputs (EN):

- 1 Atlantic Youth Creative Hubs social innovation model/policy framework created and transferred to economic strategies of at least 3 other regions in Member States; - 1600 young people engaged with across AYCH networks; - 800 SMEs engage with HEIs, third sector orgs and young people through challenges, showcases and seminars; - 40 new to firm and market products created; - 40 new product prototypes created; - 50 businesses started; - 400 young people in education or training; - 200 jobs created; - 200 internships supported. - 1 youth ambassador scheme to engage young people in local areas; - 3 annual creative youth jams to connect hubs and examine current youth entrepreneurship support policy; - 40 transnational seminars on education, employability and (social) enterprise in creative sector; - 40 transnational Key Enabling Technologies workshops - Virtual Reality, Nanotechnology, Digital Fabrication and design, Digital Media, Internet of Things; - 10 creative business incubation programmes in each hub to support ideas into business; - 20 transnational business challenges in shared issues affecting the Atlantic Area programme - aging population, youth unemployment, transport and access, innovation in traditional sectors. Young entrepreneurs will work together to design, prototype and conceive and commercialise products; - 10 progression support desks (virtual & physical) to support users of each of the hubs towards opportunities in employment, education or training.
