Description (EN): Creating an operational model unlocking the potential of the Republic of Karelia and North Karelia as a strong area of film culture.

Expected Results (EN):

The project will improve skills and capacities of the cultural stakeholders on three levels: (1) professional communities engaged in the local film market activities; (2) communities interested in becoming a part of the professional environment; (3) communities viewing cinematography as an instrument for quality edutainment. It will be achieved through cross-border networking, training activities, new cross-border cultural events and development of local film infrastructure. Plus, the project will acknowledge the potential of the local film market. It will be the initiative that shows the authorities, businesses and local community that cinematography as a creative industry can be a strategic resource for developing the territory. Besides, the Lokki-project will contribute to the improvement of the quality and accessibility of cultural services based on the cinematography and offered in the bordering regions. This change is expected because the project offers multiple opportunities for developing existing practices and introducing new practices based on local filming on both sides of the border.

Expected Outputs (EN):

1) Sustainable cross-border network is created to support and develop film industry market as a creative industry that brings added value to the cross-border regional development. 2) Educational and training programs that help local professional actors to be competitive at the modern film market and encourage young people to look towards film market as a professional area of interest are elaborated and put into practice at the regional level. 3) Local cinematography resources are used to increase the attractiveness of local events, develop new cultural products and marketing instruments. 4) Local film production and promotion systems are improved and work towards marketing the bordering region through joint practical cross-border activities. 5) High-quality and easily accessible thematic services at the local and cross-border levels are developed.
