ENERGY TRANSITION AS A STARTING POINT FOR A RESILIENT TERRITORIAL DEVELOPMENT IN MED AREAClimate Change is one of the most relevant challenges we face globally and especially in the MED Area. Territories will have to establish mechanisms ensuring a more resilient management of the available resources. Energy transition brings an opportunity to set new types of organisation and planning, putting citizens’ empowerment and local level administrative capacity in the center of the strategy. The Renewable Energy Community sets the basis of its second generation on the capitalisation of the Ecosystemic Transition Units in MED Region, as an alternative solution for energy transition with an ecosystemic approach, with the aim of promoting an effective integration of energy into territorial planning, and bring out new opportunities for local development. Multi-level coordination model is proposed to be developed, enhancing the coordination between all stakeholders. The objective is to ensure transferring of the "ETUs" model into a wide number of territories, spreading and mainstreaming the outcomes acquired into local/regional governance and policies. The aim is to prove integral solutions can be addressed through effective coordination and effective transnational cooperation within our Community and also within the MED Communities.

LA TRANSITION ENERGETIQUE COMME POINT DE DEPART POUR UN DEVELOPPEMENT TERRITORIAL RESILIENT DANS LA REGION MEDLe changement climatique est l’un des défis les plus important au niveau global et particulièrement dans la région MED. Les territoires vont devoir établir des mécanismes assurant une gestion plus résiliente des ressources disponibles. La transition énergétique est une opportunité de mettre en place de nouveaux types d’organisation et planification, plaçant l’autonomisation des citoyens et les capacités des administrations locales au centre de la stratégie.La Communauté des Energies Renouvelables pose les bases de sa seconde génération sur la capitalisation des “Unités de transition Écosystémiques” (ETUs) dans la région MED, comme une solution alternative pour la transition énergétique, avec une approche écosystémique et l’objectif de promouvoir une réelle intégration de la composante énergie dans la planification territoriale et d’apporter de nouvelles opportunités pour le développement local. Un modèle de coordination multi-niveaux sera proposé, afin de renforcer la coordination entre toutes les parties prenantes. L’objectif est d’assurer un transfert du modèle “ETUs” dans un grand nombre de territoires, en diffusant et intégrant les résultats acquis dans les politiques locales et régionales et de prouver que des solutions intégrées peuvent être adoptées à travers une coordination effective et une coopération transnationale active au sein de la Communauté MED.

Achievements (EN):

The fourth progress period of the Renewable Energy project considers the activities realised between the 1st of July and 31 of December 2021. This period has been characterised by the implementation of the Mainstreaming Process-ETU Initiative Flagship and special cases (follow-up of the technical support provided by modular projects to flagship cases, according to the strategy and scenarios defined in the first stage).WP MANAGEMENT - Regular contacts with the PP and the other partners to manage the everyday project activities (day to day management-meeting calls).- Organization and implementation of the 6 SC meetings (28th& 29th of Sept. 21). - Realisation of the 3rd progress report. WP COMMUNICATION- The animation of the project social media, news and texts for the websites of the project- Realisation of videos on the Flagship case and special cases with the organisation and participation to shooting sessions.- PANORAMED Mainstreaming meetings (04/11/21 & 30/11/21)WP TRANSFERING- Realisation of Thematic maps.- Assessment reports at 31/12/21- The launch of the new Interreg MED Renewable Energy Community WebGIS (dec. 2021) -https://www.recommunitywebgis.com/- Upload of all the available maps on the new WebGIS platform.Participation to the launching event of the new EURO-MED Programme (02/12/21).WP CAPITALIZATION- Organisation and/or participation to coaching sessions for the TU Flagship & Special cases (total 25 coaching sessions).- Successfully organized Energy Talk on October 26 2021 at EUSEW2021 to discover all the insights about the ETU Initiative FC results.- Participated in EUSEW 2021 and MEDAWeek 2021, presenting the ETU Initiative and flagship cases.- Central conference on sustainable construction was held on 24 – 25 November 2021 in Zagreb. Promotion of the project was organised within the Conference (panel session). - Presentation of the ETU Initiative to a group of territorial development organisations from Belgium (06/10/21)- Coordination of the “Green Living Areas” learning module organised in the framework of the EURO-MED Academy. Organisation of the contents and more precisely of the Learning Unit dedicated to a storage system in the building.Participation to:- Joint position paper “Strategic recommendations for sustainable use of resources in the Mediterranean built environment” and to the presentation online event (11/11/21).- Interreg MED RE Mapping of mainstreaming, transferring and liaising activities.
