Sustainable Tourism project aims to enhance the development of policies and increase the coordination of strategies between territories at interregional and transnational level regarding the development of a sustainable and responsible coastal and maritime (C&M) tourism, in line with the integrated coastal zone management and maritime spatial planning principles, through cooperation and joint planning.In particular, the project will support the mainstreaming of the MED modular projects results of axis by communication, transferring & community building, and capitalisation activities. Its objective is to set up a general framework of collaboration to facilitate the creation of synergies among modular projects, to enhance its visibility and to support the institutional uptaking of their outputs and results, mainly in the field of tourism policies and cohesion policies.The project is built upon the results of the previous horizontal project (BleuTourMED_C3) and it is managed by a sound partnership with capacity to reach the main stakeholders of the tourism sector gathering, at the same time, different expertise and profiles: sectoral European networks (NECSTouR), Mediterranean networks (Arco Latino, Adriatic Ionian Euroregion), destination management organisations (DIBA, RDA Green Karst), academic Mediterranean networks (UNIMED), Mediterranean research centre (Plan Bleu) and universities (Thessaly).

Le projet Tourisme Durable vise à renforcer le développement des politiques et à accroître la coordination des stratégies entre les territoires aux niveaux interrégional et transnational concernant le développement d’un tourisme littoral et maritime durable et responsable conformément aux principes de gestion intégrée des zones côtières et d’aménagement de l’espace maritime, par la coopération et la planification conjointe.En particulier, le projet soutiendra l’intégration des résultats des projets modulaires MED de l’axe par des activités de communication, de transfert et de renforcement communautaire et de capitalisation. L’objectif est de mettre en place un cadre général de collaboration afin de faciliter la création de synergies entre les projets modulaires, renforcer sa visibilité et soutenir la valorisation institutionnelle de ses réalisations et résultats dans le domaine des politiques du tourisme et des politiques de cohésion.Le projet est basé sur les résultats du projet horizontal précédent (BleuTourMED_C3) et il est géré par un partenariat solide avec la capacité de rejoindre les principales parties prenantes du rassemblement du secteur touristique avec des expertises complementaires : réseaux sectoriels européens (NECSTouR), réseaux méditerranéens (Arco Latino, Eurorégion Adriatique Ionienne), organisations de gestion de destination (DIBA, RDA Green Karst), réseaux académiques (UNIMED), centre de recherche (Plan Bleu) et universités (Thessalie).

Achievements (EN):

WP1 Project Management: Several Technical Committee meetings (online) have been held. ST has carried out the technical and financial justification for the 4th implementation period and presented the 4th Payment Claim. ST has also held several internal meetings to coordinate the partnership and the foreseen activities, has kept updating the Contacts Database and the project’s Gantt chart.WP2 Communication: ST has published news about the Community and the projects’ activities on a regular basis. The Team up Calendar has been constantly updated, several news and internal and external events have been published in the website, as we as two issues of the newsletter. An specific communication action plan for the II MED Sustainable Tourism Convention has been designed as well as different communication materials and means.WP4 Transferring: ST has updated the monitoring activities according to the Community needs and has participated in events organized by the Modular projects of the Sustainable Tourism Community. The Search the Med platform and Community’s catalogue of outputs have been updated. In terms of community building and transferring activities, an online workshop with the Community was organised on the 10th of March 2022, as well as preparatory actions towards transferring activities and transferring workshops. Furthermore, ST has promoted the integration of the Community’s results through publications in scientific journals and conferences.WP5 Capitalising: The ST has produced the timetable of capitalisation deliverables for 2022, after incorporating several new deliverables due to the extension of the project, and many deliverables have been produced and are being produced such as the Best Practices Report on Capitalisation, the MED Declaration, The handbook on how to use EU Recovery Funds and ERDF Regional Funds for the Sustainability of tourism in the Mediterranean or the MED ST Convention, the Euro-MED Academy, among others. Project partners have held bilateral meetings with stakeholders as preparatory activities for capitalisation and have participated in several events at EU and MED level, showcasing ST Community’s results to EU policy makers and regional authorities.
