Description (EN): This project will work with at-risk children and youth in the Latgale-Utena cross-border area and will use street sports culture to preven young people from involvement in risky, criminal or immoral activities, as well as enabling their return to school and integration into society as a whole.
Project activities will include capacity-building for professionals (20 persons from the participating organisations) working with the at-risk children and teenagers to raise their competence in working with this specific target group, as well as to create a network for exchange of information and best practice. A methodological manual will be elaborated outlining the approach and methods on how to use sports for social inclusion of at-risk teenagers, on how to better motivate and involve them in the sports activities. Outdoor sports infrastructure will be improved in 13 participating municipalities: Aglona, Balvi, Daugavpils municipality, Daugavpils, Krāslava, Preiļi, Rēzekne, Rēzekne municipality, Riebiņi, Viļaka and Viļāni in Latgale, and Visaginas and Ignalina in Utena County.
During the project training and coaching for a selected group of at-risk teenagers at each of 13 project locations will be done and public street sports activities in each participating municipality will be organized including two Ghetto games tournaments (in Visaginas and Daugavpils) during the summer periods for 1500 at-risk teenagers.
Read more Description (LT): Projekto metu bus dirbama su rizikos grupėje esančiais vaikais ir jaunimu Latgalės ir Utenos pasienio regionuose, o pasitelkiant sporto kultūrą kaip priemonę socialinei įtraukčiai didinti bus siekiama apsaugoti tikslinę grupę nuo įsitraukimo į rizikingas, kriminalines ar amoralias veiklas, ir taip palengvinti jų sugrįžimą į mokyklą ir reintegraciją visuomenėje.
Projekto veiklos stiprins dirbančiųjų su rizikos grupės vaikais bei paaugliais profesionalių gebėjimus (20 asmenų iš dalyvaujančių organizacijų), siekiant sustiprinti jų kompetencijas dirbant su šia specifine tiksline grupe. Taip pat bus kuriamas tinklas, kuriame bus keičiamasi informacija bei gerąja patirtimi, bus sukurta metodika, kuri apibrėš, kokiais būdais ir kaip pasitelkiant sportą motyvuoti ir įtraukti socialinės rizikos grupės paauglius į aktyvias veiklas. Be to, bus patobulinta sporto lauko infrastruktūrą trylikoje projekte dalyvaujančių savivaldybių: Agluonos, Balvų, Daugpilio, Kraslavos, Preilių, Rezeknės, Riebinių, Vilakos ir Vilani rajonuose bei Daugpilio ir Rezeknės miestų savivaldybėse Latgalės regione, Ignalinos rajono bei Visagino miesto savivaldybėse Utenos regione.
Trylikoje regionų projekto metu vyks treniruotės bei bus vadovaujama atrinktiems rizikos grupės paaugliams ir įvyks įvairūs atviri gatvės sporto užsiėmimai, įskaitant dvejus Ghetto žaidimų turnyrus Visagine bei Daugpilyje, vasaros laikotarpiu apskritai įsitrauks 1500 rizikos grupės paauglių.

Projekta gaitā tiks uzlabota sabiedriskā sporta infrastruktūra 13 pašvaldībās: Aglonā, Balvos, Daugavpils novadā, Daugavpilī, Krāslavā, Preiļos, Rēzeknē, Rēzeknes novadā, Riebiņos, Viļakā un Viļānos Latgalē, kā arī Visaginā un Ignalinā Utenas apgabalā.
Projekta ietvaros tiks organizēti dažādi sporta pasākumi: ikmēneša treniņi bērniem un jauniešiem katrā no 13 pašvaldībām, kas piedalās projektā; kā arī publiski ielu sporta pasākumi katrā no pašvaldībām, tai skaitā divi “Ghetto” spēļu turnīri (Visaginā un Daugavpilī) vasaras periodos kopumā iesaistot 1500 bērnus un jauniešus.
Read more Achievements (EN): The project was designed to elaborate, test and introduce a new social inclusion method for integration of at-risk teenagers through sports activities by offering them access to the street sports activities and fostering their integration back in the education process and society as a whole. Sports was used as an instrument for social inclusion of children and youth to prevent them from involvement in risky, criminal or immoral activities. The project intended to contribute to establishing a street sports culture in the border region of the Latvia-Lithuania programme.
The project was commenced with development of support mechanism for social inclusion of at-risk teenagers through sports consisting of (1) capacity-building for persons working with the at-risk children and teenagers to raise their competence in working with and better understanding this specific target group, as well as created a network for exchange of information and best practice, (2) elaboration of approach and methods on how to use sports as an instrument for social inclusion of at-risk teenagers that was compiled in a Methodological manual for staff working with the at-risk teenagers, and (3) improvement of public outdoor sports infrastructure to ensure accessibility to organised sports activities to vulnerable groups, especially at-risk teenagers at no cost thus contributing to creating street sports culture in the Latvia-Lithuania cross-border area that served as an instrument for social inclusion.
It continued with testing of the developed approach, methodology and capacity of the trained staff in involvement of at-risk teenagers in sports activities. In the project 3 types of sports activities with the involvement of the target group was organized, i.e., (1) sports activities including training and coaching of a selected group of at-risk teenagers at each project location based on the developed infrastructure on average once a month, (2) open public street sports activities led by a person popular among the teenagers thus promoting the street sports culture, and (3) Ghetto games – 1-day street sports competition events that gathered teams from both Latvia and Lithuania competing in various street sports disciplines. The work with the at-risk teenagers and lessons learned from implementation of sports activities was recorded and discussed among the partners during the project meetings and was taken into account in finalising the developed approach and methodology that was summarised in the Methodological manual for staff working with the at-risk teenagers.
Aforementioned activities were supported by series of communication activities such as promotion of the developed model for social inclusion of at-risk teenagers through sports on project partners websites and social media accounts, and organised an awareness raising campaign in social media targeted at children and youth promoting street sports culture and the established sports infrastructure, as well as marketing of the project events.

Expected Results (EN): Number of people benefiting from more accessible, efficient social inclusion measures and social services
Expected Outputs (EN): The main output of the project will be a developed, tested and introduced social inclusion model integration of at-risk teenagers through involving in street sports activities.
The project will create/improve publicly accessible outdoor and indoor sports infrastructure at 13 administrative partner locations – across Latgale, i.e., in Aglona, Balvi, rural territories of Daugavpils municipality, Daugavpils, Kraslava, Preili, Rezekne, rural territories of Rezekne, Riebini, Vilaka and Vilani, and in Visaginas and Ignalina municipalities. The project will also involve approx. 200 at-risk teenagers from both sides of the Latvian-Lithuanian border (with approx. 100 persons from each side) in its various sports activities organised specifically for this target group.
