Description (FR):

StoRES propose le développement d’une politique optimale pour l’intégration efficace du photovoltaïque (PV) et des systèmes de stockage, en testant des solutions intégrées dans 5 îles MED et territoires ruraux. Le défi est d’augmenter la part du PV dans le mix énergétique de ces territoires en résolvant les enjeux techniques, tarifaires et de réseau sans compromettre la stabilité des réseaux ni la sécurité d’approvisionnement. L’objectif est d’accroître l’auto-consommation à travers une solution de stockage optimale. Des solutions de stockage de l’énergie PV seront testées prenant en compte les profils des consommateurs pour une optimisation de l’efficacité énergétique. StoRES permettra d’améliorer la fiabilité des réseaux par un déploiement accru des ENR dans les îles/territoires ruraux, donnant au consommateur une solution économiquement rentable pour une énergie durable. Les pouvoirs publics seront mobilisés dans le cadre de leur politique en matière d’énergie durable en ayant une vraie vision à long terme. La zone MED, prédisposée pour le PV et où la parité réseau est une réalité, a l’opportunité d’être précurseur pour tester ces technologies en s’appuyant sur des collectivités prêtes à s’investir. Cette initiative améliorera la compétitivité socio-économique des régions impliquées et aura notamment un impact international puisque la connaissance acquise sera transférée aux régions européennes où la parité réseau n’est pas encore atteinte.

Description (EN):

StoRES foresees the development of an optimal policy for the effective integration of photovoltaics (PV) and energy storage systems (ESS) via testing smart solutions in 5 MED islands and rural areas. The challenge is to achieve high PV penetration in their energy mix through solving all market/technical/grid/tariff issues without compromising grid stability or security of supply. The objective is to boost PV self-consumption in the MED through an optimal storage solution.The approach is to test PV storage solutions for the consumer in different pilot sites taking into account local parameters for optimization and using efficiency measures. StoRES is expected to change the current situation concerning grid reliability with higher RES deployment in islands/rural areas giving a cost-effective option to the public on more affordable and sustainable energy supply. Public authorities will be mobilized leading to their engagement in sustainable energy strategy implementation in their jurisdictions with a truly long-term vision in mind.The MED, as the natural place for PV and where grid parity is a reality, has the opportunity to pioneer in testing such technologies in real time with authorities ready to contribute.This endeavour will increase socio-economic competitiveness of regions involved;most importantly will have an international impact as new knowledge for optimum PV-ESS interoperability is transferred to a broader geographical context where grid parity has not reached yet.

Achievements (EN):

During the 4th reporting period, the fifth transnational project meeting took place on the 28th-29th November 2018 in Lyon, France which coincided with our participation in Pollutec & the workshop organized by GREENCAP HP. Partners met in Lyon, in order to discuss the technical project progress to date regarding the operation of the pilot installations, data collection & analysis, as well the next activities in relation to the transferring WP activities of the project including the transferring plan, lessons learnt and training plan. The two main WP Coordinators (UCY & AUTH) presented along with the activities' coordinators, the work in progress and agreed on important milestones and forthcoming tasks by the partners in order to achieve the foreseen deliverables.It is noted that a representative of the GREENCAP HP was also present at the meeting, therefore we discussed extensively the capitalisation opportunities and synergies such as the participation in the EU Sustainable Energy Week in Brussels (June 2019) as well as the SyNERGY MED Conference 2019 to be organised in Cagliari along with the project final event and partners' meeting. We also participated in the video that was produced by GREENCAP HP.In addition, the LP organised the monthly conference calls with the participation of all partners (steering and technical committees) during which the monthly tasks and outcomes were described.The deliverable 3. 4.3 Preparation of infrastructure, server and database for data acquisition, collection, validation was prepared, following the quality management procedure as defined in the quality management plan. In addition, by the end of December 2018 the Transferring plan was almost completed and in the process of being finally reviewed. Progress was being made in regards to the del. 3. 7.1, 3. 7.2, 3. 8.1, 4. 2.1, 4. 3.1, 4. 4.1, 4. 5.1 and 4. 6. 1.On the communication front, Project partners are actively disseminating project information through press releases and other online articles in the media and in other events/conferences/workshops. StoRES Project progress and news continue to be shared via its Twitter and Facebook accounts.Furthermore, StoRES participated actively in the Efficient Buildings & Renewable Energy MED Community Conference organized by the Interreg MED Programme in Ljubljana on the 18th and 19th October 2019. A 3rd newsletter was prepared in November 2018 which was subsequently disseminated through the website and the partners' networks.
